Restricted invasive plants
Updates to prohibited and restricted matter
- There have been changes to the prohibited and restricted matter lists in the Biosecurity Regulation 2016.
- Please see Schedule 1 Prohibited matter and Schedule1A Restricted matter and categories of the Regulation for up-to-date lists of affected species.
Everyone is obligated to take all reasonable and practical measures that are under their control to minimise the risks associated with invasive plants. This is part of their general biosecurity obligation.
Restricted invasive plants are established in Queensland. They seriously threaten Queensland's primary industries, natural environment and livestock, as well as human health and people's livelihoods.
Many restricted invasive plants have related species that are classified as prohibited invasive plants. You should view both the prohibited and the restricted invasive plants pages to understand what your responsibilities are.
You can find detailed information on individual invasive plants below, and a summary of the restrictions and a list of restricted invasive plants in the restricted invasive plants of Queensland fact sheet.
