Broodstock or culture stock collection permit
You need this permit from Fisheries Queensland to collect broodstock or culture stock from the wild to use in Queensland aquaculture facilities.
This includes:
- collecting a regulated species that is:
- under minimum or above maximum size limits
- or
- in excess of possession limits
- collecting during closed seasons or in closed waters
- or
- using fishing gear not permitted for recreational fishing to collect brood or culture stock.
This permit can't be renewed or transferred.
Who is eligible
The permit can be held by either:
- individual applicants
- in the name of a company.
All applicants must be 18 years or over.
In most cases, a permit will only be issued if you already have aquaculture approval.
Other approvals and Native Title notifications may also be required.
How to apply
- Read the application instructions and the policy.
- Complete the permit application form.
- Send the completed form to Fisheries Queensland by post or email.
- Pay the application fee: $367.66.
Existing fees and charges did not increase on 1 July 2024 in line with the government's indexation policy.
