River and inshore beam trawl fishery
The river and inshore beam trawl fishery area is in state waters off Queensland’s east coast from the Brisbane river in the south, to Cape York in the north.

Quota or effort units
This fishery has no effort quotas or total allowable commercial catch (TACC) limits in place.
Operators do not need to hold effort units to access this fishery.
Licences
To operate in the fishery, you need a:
- primary commercial fishing licence with with the relevant fishery symbol
- commercial fisher licence for the person in charge of fishing activities.
Reporting and monitoring
Commercial fishers must:
- report trip and catch notices
- complete daily logbooks
- keep sale dockets
- have vessel tracking on their boats
- comply with state marine park and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park zoning rules.

- There are closures that apply to beam trawl.
Equipment
- Bait and cast nets are permitted in this fishery.
- Bycatch reduction devices (BRDs) are mandatory for all beam trawls.
- Turtle excluder devices (TEDs) are mandatory for some beam trawl nets.
