Emergency notice
In the event of a medical emergency or extreme weather, fishers may need to land at a different landing place or may not be able to give a prior notice before landing.
Who has to complete
The commercial fisher in control of the fishing operation is responsible for meeting the reporting requirements.
You must submit an emergency notice if a medical event or extreme weather means you:
- couldn't give a prior notice before landing
- need to land at a different place than recorded in your pre-trip notice.
When to do it
When the emergency is over, give the emergency notice before the fish are unloaded from the boat.
You must have logged this before your next fishing operation.
What to include
The emergency notice must include the:
- new landing place
- number of fish or containers on the boat.
