Wholesale sales dockets
Wholesale sales dockets are required when fisheries resources are sold to a buyer who:
- is engaged in the business of selling fish by wholesale or retail, and
- will resell any of the fish for trade or commerce (for example selling fish to a restaurant).
The commercial fisher in control of the fishing operation is responsible for meeting these reporting requirements.
Sales dockets must be kept for 5 years for all wholesale sales, including to businesses involved in the processing and storage of fisheries resources. The buyer must keep a record of Spanish mackerel and regulated coral reef fin fish bought outside the state for 5 years after the person stops possessing the fish.
A catch disposal record is recognised as a sales docket if the seller is the commercial fisher that caught the fish.
What to include
The requirements for wholesale sales dockets are specified in the Fisheries (General) Regulation 2019.
These sales docket requirements are for the transactional point of a wholesale sale of fisheries resources that were taken by a commercial fisher acting under a primary commercial fishing licence.
For any other type of sale of fisheries resources, refer to the Regulation.
