Transhipment notice
A transhipment notice must be given for these fishery symbols if fish are to be transferred to another boat at sea (except from a tender boat to its primary boat).
This applies to:
- RQ - Coral reef fin fish fishery
- SM - Spanish mackerel fishery
- T1 - Trawl fishery
- D - Coral fishery
- R - Crayfish and rock lobster fishery
- N3, N12, N13 fisheries catching black jewfish in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
The commercial fisher in control of the fishing operation is responsible for meeting these reporting requirements.
What to report
You need to:
- clearly label fish being transhipped with the primary commercial fishing licence number under which the fish were taken
- include the yellow copy of your catch disposal record with the fish.
After unloading, you must:
- obtain the weights of the transhipped fish
- report a weight notice
- add the weight to the white copy of the catch disposal record
- submit this to Fisheries Queensland.
What this applies to
A transport vessel means:
- a domestic commercial vessel (class 1 or 2)
- for fish taken under a D, N3, N12, N13, or R licences, includes the primary boat being under a licence held by the same person with those symbols.
Fish taken under an RQ, SM or T1 licence can be transhipped:
- to a transport vessel that is a domestic commercial vessel (class 1 or 2).
Fish taken under a licence with D, N3, N12, N13 or R symbol can be transhipped to an
- transport vessel that is a domestic commercial vessel (class 1 or 2), or
- primary boat being used under another primary commercial fisheries licence with a D, N3, N12, N13 or R symbol held by the same person.
Domestic commercial vessel (class 1 or 2)
You must provide:
- transport vessel code
- landing place where transport vessel will land
- estimated landing date of the transport vessel
- number of fish or containers of fish for each quota species or quota category.

Primary boat under under another licence held by the same authority holder
Fish taken under a licence with D, N3, N12, N13 or R symbol can be transhipped to a primary boat being used under another primary commercial fisheries licence with a D, N3, N12, N13 or R symbol, held by the same person.
You must include:
- the primary commercial fishing licence (PCFL) number of the primary boat onto which fish are being transhipped to
- accurate number of fish or containers of fish for each quota species and category that are being transhipped.
These fish must be kept separate from other fish on the boat.
How to report
Report the transhipment notice through the Automated Interactive Voice Response (AIVR) system.
You cannot report this through the QLD eFisher app.
