Licensing and approvals for new network infrastructure
This guide is intended for projects requiring the construction of new electricity transmission or distribution infrastructure to connect to the electricity transmission grid or supply (distribution) network.
It explains the licensing requirements and the processes you must follow to connect to the network and meet a range of national and state legislative requirements for infrastructure where:
- an existing network service provider builds, owns and operates the infrastructure on your behalf
- you build, own and operate the infrastructure operating as a distribution or transmission entity.
This guideline has been prepared to provide general guidance regarding the process for the development and connection of unregulated electricity infrastructure. We recommend proponents seek independent legal advice on the application of Queensland and national legislative requirements to their individual circumstances.
