Applying for an environmental impact statement under the Environmental Protection 1994 Act
The environmental impact statement (EIS) process under the Environmental Protection 1994 Act is used to assess resource project proposals that have a relatively high level of environmental risk. These projects are often important to the economic development in Queensland and typically involve high capital expenditure and the potential to generate substantial regional development and employment.
Read about recent changes to the EIS assessment process that commenced on 5 April 2023.
Before you begin
We strongly recommend that you engage in pre-lodgement meetings with the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation before making an application.
How to apply
To help you with the application process, including forms and fees, read the:
- environmental impact statement process for resource projects guideline (PDF, 432KB)
