Assessment of a resource authority (tenure) application
The Department of Resources will assess the resource application once it has been accepted. The time it takes to process the application depends on a number factors, including the tenure type, the regulatory requirements and the complexity of the application.

You will have submitted a resource authority (tenure) application and it was accepted by the Department of Resources.

Next steps
While the resource authority is undergoing assessment by the Department of Resources, there are additional requirements that need to be met before the department can grant an authority.
- You will require the appropriate environmental authority.
- You must address any native title requirements.
- When you apply for a new mining lease, you must advise all affected persons by publishing the mining lease application notice and settle compensation for landholders, either through a compensation agreement or Land Court determination.
