Conversion of petroleum wells to water-related bores
What's new
A new practice direction and data submission templates are available below. Read more about new reporting requirements and implementation timelines.
You must notify us before you start converting a well to a water bore and after you have finished the conversion. You also need to notify us and provide a report if you decommission or abandon the bore.
Read how to meet your notification and reporting obligations under Queensland resources legislation, and download a flowchart of reporting requirements for conversion of wells to water-related bores (PDF, 135KB).
Notes:
- You can only convert a petroleum well that was drilled after 1 January 2012.
- A well conversion may be required before you can transfer the ownership of the well.
Permits this applies to
- Authority to prospect
- Petroleum lease
- Water monitoring authority
Before starting activities
Check requirements for land access and other notices before starting petroleum and gas activities.
