Preparing for a dam emergency
Is this an emergency?
Call 000 if lives are in immediate danger. Read more about emergencies at a dam.
Every referable dam must have an approved emergency action plan (EAP).
An EAP details actions to be undertaken to minimise the risk of harm to persons or property if a dam hazard event or emergency event for the dam occurs. The EAP is implemented by the dam owner, with support from local government disaster management groups.
Use the Emergency action plan for referable dams guideline (PDF, 1.9MB) to assist in developing and submitting your EAP.
