Trading hours during applicable events

To support disaster preparation and recovery across the state, 3 emergency disaster planning declarations have taken effect through Queensland's planning framework that allow a number of local government areas across Queensland to work around the clock to ensure shops can restock their shelves with food, medicines and essential supplies.

What this means for your business

Under these temporary declarations, certain shops, services, warehouses and transport depots may operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to restock shelves, warehouses, and use loading docks.

These emergency measures enable 24-hour resupply of goods (such as restocking shelves, warehouses, or accessing transport depots) and do not extend retail shop trading hours under the Trading (Allowable Hours) Act 1990.

There are certain trading hours within which your retail shop can operate, and days when your trading may be restricted due to public holidays. Find out more about trading hours.
